Sustainable growth
An eco-responsible organization
Our commitment
It is the duty of each organization to adopt conducts that respects the environment and takes into account all social and economic aspects. It is the decision of the Concours de Bordeaux – Vins d’Aquitaine to be a responsible and national player in this matter.
In our organization
Different waste materials (paper, cardboard, ink cartridges, glass, etc.) will be separated for recycling.
In our communication
All communication materials are now printed with vegetable-based ink 100% recycled paper. Some materials have even been discontinued, such as the prize lists of medal-winning wines, in favour of digital materials (available on the site).
The organizational side of the competition, i.e. sending out the invitations to tasters, processing the wine producers’ registration forms, etc. is dealt with by a company who employs blind people.
The day of the event
At the end of the competition, a cocktail is held for some 1000 wine tasters, who are mainly suppliers from the Aquitaine region and whose products all have the official quality and origin sign (AOC, IGP, Labels, etc.).
Small beakers containing mineral water and proving essential for the tasting session are delivered to Les Bouchons d’Amour association, whereas the corks are donated to the France Cancer association. These associations then sell the corks to various recycling organizations. All funds go towards buying new equipment for the disabled and for cancer research.
And that’s just the beginning! The Gironde Chamber of Agriculture, who is responsible for organizing and promoting the Concours de Bordeaux – Vins d’Aquitaine, has plans to go much further.
